WHO SMOKES?
Researchers are inquisitive about issues linked to smoking. In a review of 7547 patients who went through back surgery, they found that 18% were smokers. The researchers stated that compared to the non-smokers, the smokers were younger, male, nondiabetic, and nonobese. These patients who have coronary artery disease were more apt to be smokers. Smokers who had lumbar spine back surgery presented initially more with leg pain than back pain and disability. Their employment, insurance/uninsured, and education status were also related to smoking status. Interestingly though, smoking status did not affect the disability status one year after back surgery. (1) Altering such risk factors work just as well for smokers and nonsmokers luckily. Chiropractic Solutions would help a San Jose smoker who has San Jose back pain create a plan to stop smoking.
SMOKING’S EFFECTS ON THE BODY
The body gets what is good for it…and what is not. Smoking isn’t. Examining 2307 smokers and non-smokers, researchers discovered that smoking is greatly associated with spine pain. Headache, trunk pain and limb pain ensued. Active smoking is linked to pain in every part of the body. The spine and head bear the brunt of the painful influence though. If a smoker doesn’t like pain, you’ll want to think about stop smoking! (2) Chiropractic Solutions is with you to support your effort to quit smoking when you’re ready.
