Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
As a parent, you want care for your child that is gentle, thoughtful, and centered on their needs. Two new studies published in September 2026 provide a closer look at why families bring children to the chiropractor and how parents feel about the experience.
WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC
Investigators in Australia and Canada examined visits from 605 young patients, ages 17 and under, cared for by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the most common reason for coming in in each age group, showing that many families see chiropractic as an important part of keeping their children healthy and active. Back problems were the most common condition chiropractors identified, and teens made up nearly half of all visits. That makes sense: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long hours at screens all place real demands on young spines.
FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED
A second study surveyed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three parts of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the warmth and respect from the chiropractor and office staff. Across the board, parents described favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. Put simply, families felt heard, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, and that matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
